Growing Engineering Firm Chooses Omega Experienced Omega User Chooses Omega Legal for Accurate Time Capture,
Detailed Reporting Capabilities and Scalability
PHOENIX—December 5, 2005 —Omega today announced that ABCO Engineering Corp. has chosen Omega Legal as its new time, billing and accounting software. The Centennial, Colo.-based engineering company chose Omega as its vendor to replace its multiple billing and accounting systems so it could continue to expand operations and accurately and simply capture time, including work in process.
When Catherine Lloyd started with ABCO in May 2004, she immediately realized that the company’s financial software wasn’t working. “I had used Omega for three years at my previous job working in a law firm. After evaluating several other time, billing and accounting technologies normally used in the engineering and construction fields it dawned on me that I kept wishing that they could do what Omega could do, so I decided, ‘why not give Omega a call?’”
“While Omega Legal is originally targeted at law firms, our engineering and construction services company requires much of the same features: accurate and simple time capture, detailed reporting capabilities and ease of use. We are currently looking to expand into more states and possibly go national. If we’re going to go big, we need a software package that’s going to support that,” Lloyd said.
ABCO, with 20 timekeepers, currently has myriad systems to capture and track its services, which in part include ensuring code compliance at construction sites and doing environmental surveys. “We’ve never been able to accurately capture WIP because we have so many different systems to capture and track our services, from Excel to Access to a separate accounting software that can’t track work in process or do any other detailed reporting,” she said. “That’ll change with Omega Legal.”
Omega Legal’s general ledger module, for one thing, will let Lloyd search for an account and see all the account activity by month. “That just isn’t possible with our current system, which requires us to manually look through our vendor files to see where the money’s been spent,” she said. “With Omega, we will have it all in front of us with the click of a button.”
