Meet DeAnn Seneff

DeAnn Seneff

DeAnn serves up answers to questions from both Omega clients and employees on anything from product installation to new tools and technologies on a daily basis, always with a bit of humor on the side. When she's not busy troubleshooting technical issues, DeAnn works on server, network, and workstation administration, as well as a vast array of additional responsibilities. DeAnn is always willing to share her extensive technical knowledge to assist clients and employees.

Recently, DeAnn completed training to become Microsoft certified. Her official title is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP). This certification enables IT professionals to demonstrate their mastery of Microsoft technologies. The training is intense, and the certification needs to be renewed every two years. MCITP certification will allow DeAnn to have a closer relationship with Microsoft, providing Omega the opportunity to integrate Microsoft’s evolving technologies into Omega Legal.

Let’s get to know a little bit more about DeAnn in her own words:

How long have you been with Omega? “I’m a retread. I started working for Omega in 2005 as a Client Services Representative and was here for about three years. I left for a year and a half, and came back to Omega as a Network Administrator in 2009.”

What do you enjoy most about your job? “I especially enjoy talking with the IT people at our clients’ firms and helping them solve their technical issues. I also enjoy working with Omega’s Development team on implementing new technologies in Omega Legal, such as .NET, and then testing these technologies with our products.”

How did you get started in IT? “Fifteen years ago, I worked at the same company as James Cottam (Omega’s lead IT person). I moved into the IT department and learned everything I could about it—mostly learning by doing. Being a self-professed geek, IT was a perfect fit for me. After that, I took on more and more challenging jobs, increasing my IT knowledge and skills with each position.”

Have you lived anywhere besides Arizona? “I grew up in Dale, Indiana. It’s a very small town with a population of about 1,500. Its claim to fame is that it’s near Santa Claus, Indiana, the world’s only post office where letters to Santa are sent from all over the world. I had a military dad, so we moved around a lot. I moved from Indiana to Arizona when I was twelve, and then back to Indiana again. I’ve also lived in California and New York.”

What was your very first job? “My first job was at McDonalds when I was in high school. I worked at the front counter. If they’d had those cool headsets in those days I might still be there.”

What were your original career aspirations? “I wanted to be a psychiatrist. I’m still interested in that field, but it’s a hobby now - I only shrink family and friends. And if it gets too intense I just say, ‘I’m sorry, but our time is up.’”

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? “In my free time I enjoy playing video games. My favorite game is World of Warcraft, an online role-playing game with more than 12 million subscribers worldwide. I also enjoy Renaissance Faires. I have attended faires all over the country.”

Tell us about your family. “I have two great kids: A daughter, Alexis, who is 17, and a son, Harley, who is 16. Harley interns with Omega in Development and is interested in becoming a software developer. We also have a cat and a dog.”

Where do you like to travel? “I love to travel. I’ve had the opportunity to visit oversees places like Ireland and England. These days I go to places closer to home like Las Vegas, San Diego, and Disneyland. I love Las Vegas and go there three to six times a year, not so much for the gambling or shows, but for the food. I enjoy trying new restaurants when I travel- in fact, a good recommendation helps me determine my destination.”
